I’m gonna tell you the truth, i don’t pay any freakin attention to the media these days & i haven’t been on tumblr much. While I was in line at the store I saw something about Kim K’s divorce & was mostly unaffected. Then today on tumblr, I’m seeing a lot of hate on Kim K for getting a divorce 72 somethings after an incredible wedding and people are pissed at her. I’m seeing a lot of this whole “sanctity of marriage” thing being thrown around.
I myself am a firm supporter of gay marriage but I don’t support this statement being a defense for gay marriage “Kim kardashian can get a divorce after 72 days and gays still can’t get married?”
I thought gay marriage was about supporting peoples right to be married if they loved each other? I thought it was about love?
I don’t know Kim K, the kind of person she is, what her real motives are but it doesn’t matter because everyone talking about her divorce doesn’t either. It’s sad that we think we’re open human beings but we can’t be open to the fact that maybe she truly wanted this marriage to work, but found out after seventy something days that it never would. Have people stopped to think that this is still a real human being who is probably in a lot of pain right now with this divorce? It’s sad that people say she’s only famous for her sex tape and stupid things she does, making it seem like she’s a nothing person. From what I can she does shit, yes it is upsetting and a poor characteristic of our society that celebrities can do things that bring little benefit to society but still get paid millions, but don’t get mad at them for that, get mad at yourselves and the rest of society for hanging on every word the media force feeds down our throats.
I agree that marriage should be a solid decision, not easily able to be gotten out of after such a short amount of time, something that needs to be fought for but like I said, I don’t know exactly what happened in the relationship, but neither do many other people. Must we always assume the worst in people, celebrity or not?
